Beaches

Maine has more than 5,000 miles of coastline, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire state can be found here in the Kennebunks.

Whether you’re a family looking to set up for that perfectly relaxing day at the beach or a surfer hoping to catch the ultimate wave, the beaches in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport offer some of the best fun in the sun.

Kennebunk Beaches
(Mother’s Beach, Middle Beach & Gooch’s Beach)

These long, wide sandy beaches (and even rocky Middle Beach) are the perfect place to walk, sun yourself, play in the surf, look for sea treasures or just enjoy the sight of the waves rolling onto shore. There are lifeguards and porta-potties at both Gooch’s Beach and Mother’s Beach from July through Labor Day. Mother’s Beach has a playground open to the public.

While visitors are welcome at these beaches, a permit to park at the beach is required. Non-resident daily ($25), weekly ($100) and seasonal ($200) passes are available at three kiosks, via PassPortParking mobile app, and at the Kennebunk Town Hall. For information, call the Kennebunk Town Hall at (207) 985-2102.

Mother’s Beach

On Beach Avenue, Kennebunk is a small area popular with families because of its small size, tide pools and the KBIA playground open to the public. Lifeguards and porta-potties are there seasonally. Parking permits are $25 daily and $100 weekly, available at three kiosks, via Passport Parking mobile app, and at the Kennebunk Town Hall.

Middle Beach

Is the rocky stretch between Mother’s Beach and Gooch’s Beach. It’s the last to fill up on a hot summer day, but it has its appeal too. Just bring a chair and make yourself comfortable on the rocks. Or take a walk and look for sea glass and find yourself a heart-rock. They’re there if you look!

Gooch’s Beach

is a long, wide sandy beach, perfect for sunning, swimming, surfing, walking and more. There are lifeguards and porta-potties in season, plus there is a paved, level sidewalk the length of the beach. Parking permits are $25 daily and $100 weekly, available at three kiosks, via PassPortParking mobile app, and at the Kennebunk Town Hall.

Parsons Beach

Out of the way, privately owned beach and limited in access, Parson’s is a special spot for people who appreciate and respect nature. Off-season it remains a lovely walk on a brisk day on the Maine coast.
Location: Off Route 9 entering Kennebunk from Route 1 South on Parson’s Road. Limited parking, no public restrooms, dining or lifeguard facilities.

Colony Beach

Is a beautiful, rocky and quaint beach with stunning views and if you're agile (and/or brave) enough, you can walk on the jetty. Free parking (first come first serve), limited spots. Location: Off of Ocean Avenue, near the Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport
